Emergency Vehicle Operator Course(EVOC) Levels:

  • Class 1 - 0-10,000 pounds: ALS Response Cars
  • Class 2 - 10,001-26,000 pounds: Most Ambulances
  • Class 3 - 26,001+ pounds: Pumpers, Heavy Rescue, and Ladder Trucks
  • Class 4 - Tractor Drawn Apparatus
  • Class 5 - No longer recognized in state of Virginia.

Ambulance Staffing Levels:

  • Unit: EVOC-2 Driver Only
  • Ambulance: EVOC-2 Driver/EMT-B
  • Rescue: EVOC-2 Driver & EMT-B
  • Trauma: EVOC-2 Driver/EMT-B & EMT-E
  • Medic: EVOC-2 Driver/EMT-B & EMT-CT
